Red Star Fresh Yeast Cake, 2 Ounce (Pack of 08)

We used Red Star Fresh Yeast Cake as a source of elongation factors for our translation experiments, and the results were outstanding. The yeast was fresh, easy to handle, and yielded highly active protein extracts. We were particularly impressed by the robust activity of the elongation factors, which supported reliable and reproducible in vitro translation reactions.This product has been a valuable resource for our lab work, and we will definitely continue using it for future experiments. Highly recommended for anyone in need of a dependable biological source for translation machinery components.

Use to make X-Mass cookies.

In my first review I gave this 5 stars because it was packed between two cool packs and arranged tightly inside a mini cooler. It was still chilled when I received it. Because this took 5 days to receive, I was very impressed at how it was still cool on the inside. Then I baked a loaf of bread using this product. It came out low rise, very heavy and dense. So, I decided to test the yeast next to the active dry yeast I already have (it's past the expiration date). This product did not ferment AT ALL. The active dry was extremely active, still. I even tested this product 3 times to be sure before I threw out $50 worth of yeast. Ugh. What a waste of money. The cakes seemed somewhat moist but crumbled apart. Save your money $$$.

It came and it was cold! I was very nervous it was not going to work... It did! 720 or 60 dozen of grandma's donuts later and it made my holiday perfect.

The product I’m sure works well however it showed up 10 days later and there’s a no return policy. If you understand how yeast works it has to be kept cold and when I arrived the ice was completely melted and yeast was at room temperature. I discarded it and that was a very expensive price tag to pay for yeast to have to throw it away.

I was very pleased with my cake yeast. The only drawback is the quantity I had to buy to get it. I realize there is a limit to how small a quantity can be sent to make it profitable, but I only use it to make nut roll a couple of times a year. I don't know exactly how much I will be able to use before it goes bad.

Could not find this product locally. Searched on Amazon and found it easily. Bought the cake yeast for my mother-in-law. She wanted to make family recipe brought over by her mother from Hungary. Product was still cold when it arrived. Will buy again!
