Our city recently upgraded to the newer covers and I could no longer access the main water cut-off valve without calling the city and scheduling a tech to come out and then come back when the repair is done. Due to busy schedules of plumbers and the expense of their hourly charges it is not practical to schedule as the most important part is checking the project after the tasks are complete to make sure there are no leaks and the fix can handle the pressure. I saw this key and ordered it based on it being metal and corrosive coating. It arrived super fast, well packaged, and feels high quality. The only issue for me is my city went with an option where there is a dimple about 1/4" at the top of the key and the perpendicular portion was too wide to engage the mechanism. I fixed this with a rotary tool trimming 1/4" off the blade part of the key. It now works perfect and opens the water cover so I can shutoff the main water valve, very helpful when I needed irrigation repairs as that system is upstream from the secondary house cut-off valve. Being metal I am not worried about cutting it, I sanded and primed/painted it after modifying it and it will last longer than I will.

Bought this because the new plastic manhole the city installed has a functional lock and I didn't want to be picking it with an allen wrench all the time. This one looked right and seems well made. Too bad it doesn't fit the hole in the manhole. Which it should since the picture on the listing shows the same hole I have. The hole has a pretty good kink in it. The key does not. See the picture. You can push this key through the hole if you push hard enough. But the point of buying a key was to not have to push the wrong tool in there. If I'm just jamming some random metal bits in there to pop the lock, I'm not paying this much to do it.

Recently had new waterlines installed as part of my cities plan to completely eliminate lead pipes, the city installed new plastic meter boxes which require a special key - nothing special it works effortlessly and unlocks the cover albeit being a little loose. Made of solid medal which makes it long lasting, i would definitely recommend this especially in an emergency where water needs to be shut off asap

This key is solid, well made and finished nicely. It appeared it would be the right key for my cover. but it did not work on my city's new cover. I deducted one star for that, but overall quality would be five stars. Hopefully it works for you. If it does, you won't be buying more than this one.
