Melissa & Doug Wooden Emergency Vehicle Carrier Truck With 1 Truck and 4 Rescue Vehicles

Melissa & Doug toys are generally very high quality, but this one takes the grand prize, in my opinion, in terms of visual appeal and fun. It's colorful and thoughtfully designed. For example, the carrier has grooves cut away for the wheels so the vehicles don't roll off. The helicopter rotors spin freely and are fun to twirl.I wanted to give my son this for months, but had to wait until Christmas. He loves car carriers, trucks, police cars, and fire engines, and it's even more special because he can say all the names of the vehicles in this set. (He just learned helicopter.) Separately, these vehicles are all cool on their own, but what if one toy had it all? This is that toy. Imagine it through the eyes of a toddler getting this as a gift. Never mind him. I'm 41 and I love it as a display item!Best of all, it's wooden (with some plastic parts for the wheels). Too many toys are plastic, and we want our son to have as many wooden toys as possible in his life. The wood is perhaps pine and not lacquered , in order to maintain a natural appearance. Because it's real wood, you may get some variation in the coloring of the pieces like I did.One more cool thing that my wife discovered -- the vehicles fit on the Ikea 300.643.59 LILLABO 20-Piece Basic Train Set and vice versa! The interoperability of the two sets is unexpected and makes us even happier. The Ikea train set is a fantastic value at $10. The M&D vehicles all fit through the tunnel too except the helicopter. I've included some photos with the Lillabo set.If you want a bigger toy, there's also the Melissa & Doug Mega Race-Car Carrier - Wooden Tractor and Trailer With 6 Unique Race Cars but we think the size of this carrier is perfect for a two year old.Sorry for the poor video quality. Amazon compressed it too much and it looks terrible.

We stayed at an Airbnb that had this set for kids to play with. My 15 month old loved playing with these. So I bought it for him for Christmas. Great quality. Good size for little hands. No small parts that can come off. I think he'll have these for a quite a while.

Grandson really enjoys playing with this toy. Well made and great for imaginative play.

My grandson loves this toy! It is a well made wooden toy, very sturdy, and has taken many bumps without breakage. It is a great size for little hands to maneuver around the house. He likes the variety of trucks and especially the helicopter.

Favorite teething toys for my son. The helicopter is also a top one. Because of these toys I decided just to buy wooden toys from now on

As is usual with Melissa and Doug toys, the vehicle carrier truck and cars are sturdy and can withstand a 5-year-old and 3-year-old pair of brothers. It's simple and well crafted. The ability to raise and lower the truck bed supposedly builds fine motor skills, but the kids just think it's fun. It's also nice to see a fine wooden toy as opposed to all of the cheap plastic trucks on the market. I recommend it.
