This book was not what I expected. I thought I was ordering a book to set out with photos from Jean. I have watched her show and loved her style. This book is her story, and I adored it. I read the whole thing in 24 hrs. She is talented by always put her faith and family first. It was just what I needed to read. Thank you for sharing your story Jean!!

My husband purchased this book for me for Christmas by my request and I'm so glad he did. I've found myself waiting to read this book when I can be still and enjoy some time to myself on the couch with a cozy blanket. The stories Jean shares about her life and journey have encouraged and inspired me. It feels like I have a mentor speaking to me as I read her book. She inspires me to be more accomplished and inspires me to be a better mother. I love how she shares the stories of her life and how her faith has been a part of her decision making. I didn't know who Jean was until I saw her on Magnolia network and just so happened to come across her book on Amazon. There's something so special and unique about her. I admire her family dynamic. I hope that as my family grows we can be as close, connected and supportive as her family is. Great wisdom and advice are shared in each chapter. In a world where values and all that is good is being destroyed or cancelled, this book makes you feel like you've escaped to a better simpler place where things are good and there still is order and hope. Love this book.

First, let me say that I think Jean S & her company create beautiful work and I enjoy seeing female entrepreneurs succeed and thrive so it might seem stage that I'm incredibly annoyed with myself for spending money on this book. I did read it, the entire thing. It's not a design book but is a *very religious* autobiography. The writing's not strong, the life story is an absolute snoozefest. Again, not to be mean but there's nothing interesting here. I'm sure this person is perfectly nice & everything but I have no idea why anyone would think this life story is remotely interesting, certainly not inspirational. Her marriage sounds pretty cringey right from the first page. You actually feel really sorry for her. It honestly reads like your elderly next door neighbor retelling the past 25 years of their life when you are waiting for the locksmith to show up and you have no where else to go. It's that bad. I never write reviews but I'm hoping this will help someone else avoid the expensive mistake I just made. I can't even give it away. I don't know anyone who would be able to get past the first 3 pages.

When I preordered this book, I expected more of a design book filled on every page of photographs of Jean’s designs. But the reality is, you can easily see all of her designs on her Instagram page and this book is so much more than a design book in the best way possible! I loved reading this book and have now also listened to it on audible.Jean’s designs have been my source, for years, for my best design inspirations and it fills my heart with joy to get to know the woman behind the design and admire and like her so much. The parts that have actually stuck with me the most are her personal walk with God and her stories about the relationships with her husband, children and friends. The stories about her struggles and wisdom of being a mom to young adult to adult children have really stuck with me. I have repeated several times to myself “ God has my sons file” since reading her book. Please do not miss the opportunity to read or listen to this memoir! And thank you God for using Jean to fill the hearts of so many with your words of wisdom!

I love this designer and was so excited to get her design book. The book is more of a bio about her life and getting into the design business than it is about design/decorating. I was disappointed there weren’t more pretty pictures and tips on how to style pieces.

As someone who has worked in the design field, I found Jean Stouffer's account of how her business became a reality and her experiences over the decades very moving and encouraging. Her book is not strictly about examples of her work but reveals the processes a designer goes through to achieve a thoughtful and successful outcome in creating a highly functioning as well as beautiful space. Some people view design work as fun and glamourous - and it has those moments - but there are many hours of juggling personal life, finances, time management and unexpected problems on jobs that require solutions. I found her faith very inspiring. Her stories of challenges she faced and how they were resolved are so amazing and uplifting. The ability to walk into a house with an awkward and deficient layout and visualize solutions to transform it into a very livable and pleasant abode is a gift, and one which Jean Stouffer possesses. With existing current world events, how wonderful to read a book that gives one a sense of hope and encouragement!
