Standard Process Lactic Acid Yeast - Whole Food GI, Digestion and Digestive Health, Saccharomyces cerevisiae - 100 Wafers

I read about these online and was desperate to try something to help stop annoying bouts of "food poisoning/stomach bugs" that I get every 4-6 months for the last few yrs. I already take probiotics and eat yogurt with live active cultures, but doesn't seem like those have helped much. These were a bit pricey, but I bought them to keep them on hand for when I might need them, as opposed to taking them regularly. A few weeks ago I was up a few hours at night with bad stomach cramps. At about 4am, I ate a piece of bread, then took one of these wafers. the taste wasn't bad at all as some of the reviews have mentioned. I also diluted 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in about a cup of water and drank that. Within 15-20 minutes, my cramps had stopped and I fell back asleep. In the morning my stomach was a little upset, so I took another wafer after breakfast and by lunch felt 100%. I really think this helped nip it in the bud, before vomiting/diarrhea started. It's hard to tell if it was the wafers, or the apple cider vinegar that helped, but I'm just glad I didn't get sick again. I'm totally traveling with these from now on, and going to take them at the first sign of an upset stomach!UPDATE-1 yr later (9-29-17). These have saved me! I haven't gotten sick since starting these over a yr ago! I've only taken them as needed at 1st sign of sickness, (around 6 or 7 times) and have never gotten sick again.

The product does what it is intended to do, I only needed one per day for a few days to reset my system along with probiotics. It has helped tremendously with gut bacteria imbalance and Candida overgrowth. Will definitely keep this on hand when I need it.The taste isn’t great, it’s a bland wafer that if sucked on will soften, (the taste is stronger once it’s chewed) so if you wait you can bite it then swallow the soft pieces with a gulp of water. Not bad at all and very worth it since it’s so effective!

My bottle arrived with a plastic seal as well as an aluminum peel seal under the cap (forgot to picture). I was so excited to start these because I need them and I know they work! I was first introduced to them by my naturopath in 2013. They look and taste fine. They are dry by nature and aren’t meant to be a snack or dessert. One wafer is fine for maintenance, but it’s possible not to get good results with just one per meal, depending on your situation of course. I am not a health pro, just sharing my experience and suggestion for those who are buying because of Candida Overgrowth, leaky gut, or digestion issues.This is about my third time ordering Lactid Acid Yeast Wafers by Standard Process (SP) here on Amazon. My last time was by a different seller back in 2020. Hard to complain about price when you need them and can’t order just anywhere. So, I would say the $29 I paid was worth the quick access and results I’m expecting. SP products are not sold in stores and normally are provided by an alternative medicine professional via an appointment, etc. I would love to go that route, but those visits typically aren’t covered by insurance. Grateful I can grab these here and hope they stay stocked.

Some people after being treated with certain antibiotics, have great difficulty restoring balanced flora. This product breaks down carbs and releases lactic acid, which helps correct the PH in the intestines so that so that the bacteria can repopulate. I read on these for digestive issues and women's health. These pills are huge and some what difficult to swallow. I suggest cutting in half.

After much research and years of discomfort, I discovered my digestion issues were not too much acid which I was mistakenly treating with Tums, but too little so proteins weren't being broken down. These help with that and got me off the antacids. The only problem is the price. Too expensive.
