Wildly overrated with nearly no flavor
After getting inundated with ads from all sides - I caved in and bought two bags of this beverage. I read the reviews (mostly positive) and decided to dive in and get two different 'flavors'. It sounds delicious if you read the rave reviews about it...who doesn't love chocolate, right? The second bag was delayed in getting to me so I canceled the order - figuring I could reorder it if I wound up liking the product - mostly because of the cost. I tried that mushroom 'coffee' and I thought it tasted like hot dirt with some wet tree bark for flavor. I had higher hopes for this product.Candidly, I don't like it. I didn't have a gold tone/metal filter for my coffee maker so I had to buy one. I find that I've had to use at least twice as much of this as I do with regular ground coffee to get any kind of flavor out of it.I expected a bit more body out of the flavor profile. It's simply not there. I drink higher quality coffee - I don't use K cups, Folgers or Maxwell House. I'm used to drinking real coffee - local brewers with strong flavor profiles, occasionally Pete's or Caribou. Never Starbucks because it's over-roasted and typically slightly burned during roasting. I was expecting a 'lighter than coffee' flavor profile with chocolate notes. What I have managed to brew is hot water with a hint of chocolate flavor. I've brewed this with increasing volume of grounds, slower brewing, smaller batches, larger batches...it all tastes the same - some simply take longer to finish. I measured all of the ingredients to make sure it was done correctly.I'm now happy I canceled the 2nd bag.PROS:Smells great when you open the bagCONS:Very expensive based on how much needs to be usedRequires a metal/gold tone filter - you can't use paper filtersNear zero flavor overall - hot chocolate-scented water is what it amounts to overall

It's brewed Cacao, Not Hot Chocolate
As long as you are not expecting this to taste like sweet hot chocolate, you will be good. This brew has a smooth, non bitter taste. I find it to be a great alternative to coffee. I mix half coffee and half Crio. I really like the flavor that it gives the coffee as well as reducing the amount of caffeine I am consuming.

Love It, But…
I really do love Crio Bru, but normally I get the French Roast. I’d hoped this super dark would be more chocolatey, but because it’s such a dark roast I think it loses a lot of its chocolate flavor. I love ultra dark chocolate, but this is a little too smoky roasted for me. Once this is out I’ll go back to my French Roast.

Love it!
This stuff is amazing!! BUT… The first time I tried it, I really didn’t like it. However, after paying that much money for it, I wasn’t going to waste it, and by the time I got to the bottom of the bag, I was in love! If you are expecting hot chocolate, this is not it. But if you want a chocolate drink without all the calories or caffeine, then this is for you. I brew mine one of four ways: a Keurig pod (not the best, but gets the job done), french press (for larger portions and longer steep times), espresso machine (my favorite), and a glass tea infuser (for a double shot on the go). It smells heavenly (yes, this is what I assume Heaven smells like)! I sweeten mine with one sugar cube per cup and a splash of fat-free half & half to add some creaminess. It’s never going to be as rich and creamy as hot chocolate, but it is simply divine in its own right, and a great mood booster! I’ve been drinking it for 3-4 years now and will continue as long as it’s available. Kudos to this company!!!
