Fantastic Refrigerator/Icebox

We do a fair amount of cross-country driving. Usually have a cooler w/us depending on the trip. This trip was a 4 day drive and we had to bring in food supplies and needed to stay frozen. During the trip up, dry ice was particularly hard to find. Regular Ice just didn't keep the meats frozen like we needed. For the return trip, we purchased the Alpicool T60 Fridge/Freezer. Looking at primarily the freezer operation in this case to haul back the fish, meat and vegetables we were bringing home. The Cooler met and exceeded my expectations. When we got it, read thru the instructions and got it cooling down to -10 degrees w/in about 45 min. on AC pwr. If using only as a freezer, it's very easy to operate. To use as a Fridge/Freezer, you place the patrician back in and it splits the operation of the cooler into a Freezer/Fridge operation. You can set each section individually at the temps you want. In our case we only needed the Freezer operation for this trip.Works really well whether on AC power or DC power. Since it didn't have a battery to keep it running at night when we'd stop, we'd roll the cooler into our room and plug it in. Back in the truck, back on DC power. Operationally was great. By the time we got the Cooler home, it had started to develop frost inside the cooler and everything was frozen solid.Had two complaints about it, but not enough of an issue to me to drop a star off the rating.1. The instructions were not laid out well. The instruction manual had multiple models listed in the manual. Was confusing at first which page was for our unit. Because there was so much info on the pamphlet, the text was small and in my opinion, needed to be re-written to make the instructions more clear & simple. As a Tech minded guy, I knew what they were trying to say, others may have struggled w/it.My suggestion for them is the just have the one pamphlet for the one product only on the sheet. I know it will cost a few more pennies to have multiple instruction pamphlets, but think it would be worth it.2. Was not impress w/the handles to move the cooler. Yes it had wheels on it, but when you have one of the larger coolers loaded, depending on what you are hauling, the cooler could be 40 to 65 pounds or more. As they coolers get larger, My suggestion would be to add another set of wheels on the other end of the cooler so you could just pull it along.Trying to roll the cooler w/the extended handle they provide, made for a strenuous lean and bend of the back when you go from parking lots to rooms and back.As well, the handle that you use, should be thicker and rounded, maybe even padded. Would fit the hand better. After moving the cooler into my room the first night, I had very red pinch marks on my hands from hauling the cooler to my room. Took a few days for the pinch/bruising to go away. Was it the end of the world, no, just a bit of an annoyment. Moving forward, I'm going to get one of those little collapsable luggage dollies and will be all good. Like I said, my 2 gripes, were just that gripes. Not show stoppers by any mean.Overall though; Fantastic cooler. very pleased with it. Highly recommend it!

Bang for Buck Fridge\Freezer on the go

Have had mine for ~4 weeks now, have been on 2 camping trips with it. The 5 stars is purely based on bang for the buck. In a head to head with a danfoss compressor or similar level system it would probably be a solid 3-4. Not sure if another clone has popped out or not yet but this is the smallest dual zone I found. I was not particularly needing the dual zone, but the option to have it in this size is pretty awesome for a smaller setup where you can't fit/don't need a 60L+ unit. The power draw to maintain a freezer section is high compared to fridge only. Power draw seems to max around 60 watts. Duty cycle once temp is established is maybe 20% run time for the compressor (higher if maintaining freezer zone). ECO draws a bit less and duty cycle is lower. Be careful how often you open it when in ECO if you want to maintain consistently good temps. In practical terms... I have a 500 watt hour power unit and it will run the unit for less than a day. Good for overnight with the battery dedicated to running the unit but not for multiple days unless you have a way to charge it. In fridge mode however... looks like it can do 3-5 days depending on how it is loaded, how often you are opening things etc... and that is in an Alabama summer environment. If you want to run it off your car battery it does have a battery management feature which you can set high medium or low basically meaning it will shut off a different voltage levels as the battery drains. I would only rely on it if you are with others and have jumper cables in case it drains your batteries. If boondocking alone I recommend a completely independent battery for running the fridge.Something that is not very clear is that the center divider comes out so that you are left with a single zone system. The controls recognize if the separator is installed or not which is pretty nice. The baskets are designed to have the center divider in place so as a single zone you will need to come up with another way to manage storage or have to deal with them rattling around as you drive. My unit came with unadvertised blue tooth capability allowing you to keep an eye on temps, and change any settings from an app available both on the apple app store and google play store. Seem sit is something of a Russian roulette situation on whether or not you get a unit with this capability. There also appears to be an LG compressor that some ship with that is pretty quite and a bit more efficient. Mine does not have it.Noise level is.... bearable. But in max power mode the compressor cycles can be pretty obnoxious before it settles down a bit. ECO mode is a bit better but still not exactly great. I originally thought I would put this unit in the screen room of our tent so I could share the battery I run it with... I now only keep it in the car overnight due to the noise. It isn't so much the noise itself is all that bad, the problem is it is kind of random and not consistent so it would be likely to difficult to fall asleep if it were nearby.Lastly... couple minor details. The measurement for width does NOT include the wheels. However it is pretty easy to take them off if need be. It is about an inch wider that listed with them on. My instructions were incorrect about which unit had to be the freezer in mixed mode. The freezer side is the L shaped section over the compressor. The controls on mine will not let me set the wrong side low and if you increase temps on the L shaped section above the setting for the fridge section they will both change setting values.

When it works it works well, but doesn't last, T-60 only lasts 4 months

I am on my third alpicool cooler fridge. I have purchased 2 with the generic alpicool compressor, and 1 with the lg compressor. The t-60 has a dual zone refrigeration system that uses a single compressor and utilizes a valve to select where the refrigerant goes. This is the biggest cooler that you're going to fit between the seats of a freightliner cascadia (2019 generation) daycab, it’s snug between the back wall and the dash...I typically set mine at 38f for cold drinks and 4f for frozen food storage for supper.I love that it has wheels for the occasional times I need to pull it along the ground. This isn't that light empty, and has a Lot of room to make it stupid heavy when you load it up.I love that it has digital controls with a actual temperature setting and reading, and that you can have even more control when you connect to it via the app. It really doesn't draw much power when running, which helps. The drain plug is a nice addition for cleaning.Unfortunately customer support seems to have diminished over time, they were ready to help with my first cooler, but when the second one failed after 4 months I couldn't even get a response. Hopefully the manufacturer will see this review and re-evaluate, given it's durability issues....*Update, 4 months in and lgt-60 has also FAILED.This is a lot of money for such a short term solution. Further inspection revealed wires corroded out on the cf-55 (my first alpicool) after over 3 years of service.
