For the first time in forever my nitrates finally seem to be under control. I only noticed after adding this for about 2 months though. It doesn't really reduce organic matter but it does control ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate.

The smell is horrible but after a few days the water was crystal clear! It works!

This AEL20453 Microbe Lift Fresh Water Bacteria Balancer works better than many other products for this purpose. I will be purchasing this product again. Recommended.

I have stopped using bottled bacteria in general as I haven't noticed anything different compared to cycling a new tank with bottled bacteria vs one without. Though this time I decided to give it one last try, not for a new tank though. I had to get a new filter since once of my stopped working as well (and plan on using it for a different tank), assuming it would be fine to completely swap the filter including the media, that's what I did. This is when I decided to give this product a try and it seems to help not restart the tank cycle. It took several days for my tank to be back to safe parameters and non-cloudy. This is a tank with 3 filters (2 HOB and 1 large sponge filter), I have goldfish in here and tank is super clean. I use water polishing pads so that also helps make the water look nearly particle free (no particles are seen floating around in the water).I don't know if this bottled bacteria would give me the same results with the other brand I ran a test with. I like how it doesn't do that 'one day safe parameters, the day after back to normal', which a lot of the other cheap brands do. You should give this a try, especially when you're worried about your tank cycle crashing on your established tank. I insert this (I use a syringe for everything to measure precisely) in my filter, not in the open water. Eventually beneficial bacteria will spread on other places anyway so this is what I do. This bottle does have it wear you can poke a tiny hole and use it to pour it in the measuring cup they provided (looks like those tiny cups that come with cold medicine).

Keeping your fish healthy can be a lot of work. So I'm glad there is this product to make it less stressful for me and my goldfish. Goldfish produce a lot of nitrates so I have to change my tank water ~ once a week. And although I use reverse osmosis water I still like to hedge my bets by adding Microbe Lift to the tank at the same time. I only need to add 1 tsp per 10 gallons which is nice as this bottle should last a while. (However, if you as starting a new tank it does recommend using 2 tsp per 10 gallons.). When I use this I do notice that I don't have to change the tank water as early and my goldfish do not seem to have any adverse effects. I just wish that the company would be more transparent about their blend of bacteria and if there is anything else in the blend as I could not find any specific information concerning the exact ingredients on the bottle.

I have only had a fish tank for less than a year and my tank is very small. A couple months ago we had a huge influx of algae and the water got really bad so I had to really clean the tank and restart the tank. Even after that change the algae kept coming back quickly taking over not just growing on the glass but also on the filter despite weekly water changes.I ordered this bacteria hoping that it would help with algae and it seems to be working. The algae isn't coming back nearly as fast now. this stuff is amazing

My tank isn't very old and I was concerned it could be starting to suffer from new tank syndrome so I used some of this (a teaspoon, as recommended) and the water in the tank is so much clearer. I am very pleased with it and will definitely order more. It balances the bacteria by introducing good bacteria into the tank. I highly recommend it. 5 stars
