A Frame for Life: The Designs of StudioIlse

How surprised I was to find that I had ordered a third book by Ilse Crawford. I hadn't been looking at the author. While it may seem, at first, that this book is about Ilse or her clients -- it is really about YOU. As it says, it is a "frame for life" -- and she shows you how to make a frame for your life. So while I would not design my home as she designed hers, I find the book valuable. That's her point -- design your space, your home, for YOU. It's not about coping her style. It's about finding what's best for the way you live. Her other books I have pondered are: Home is Where the Heart Is, and The Sensual Home. In all these books, the text is as delightful as the photos and the photos are as instructive as the text.

This book is legendary, its beautifully made and perfect in every way. The reading in it is brilliant.. Ilse is a idol.

It’s beautifully organized, has linen cover, and lovely photography. I met the author years ago, have wanted this book, and bought 2! It is like her, clear, direct, and intelligently written with practical ideas. Buy an extra for a gift, its like a warm hug from a friend.

Excellent resource.

A nice book focus on the explanation, not always very detailed, of the Ilse Crawford's design approch. I have found the projects very well described by text, but very poorly with images.

Lovely book and a beautiful gift for my best friend

Pro: It's a professionaly mad book like all Rizolli made ones. Contains more projects than StudioIlse website.Con: The design ideas revolving around the human scale, and planing a building or spece from inside out. It doesnt contain any cuting edge design idea, and wont turn your world upside down.It raises important questions, but repeats the same idea over and over again. If you watch Ilse Crawford interviws, you can basicly get the main concept of hers.For a book ethusiest -like me- totaly worth to buy! So go for it!

Ilse is true to her philosophy of connecting people trough design. The book is designed to be easy to read and her beautiful writing makes a connection and resonates with the reader. A must. However, photos could have been better.
