Great vacuum sealer
I've used this on a few mason jars so far and it pulls a decent vacuum on the lids. The adaptor that allows you to utilize normal or wide mouth jars is pretty neat, being built-in (almost to the point you'd miss it fit you weren't aware it was there). The size for wide mouth jars is perfect. As for food saving and food storage, it's great. It pulls a strong enough vacuum on the jars we've used to really seal the lids shut. Note this isn't a replacement for pressure canning-sealed jars, so for something that doesn't need pressure canning, like dried goods (with a moisture absorber) it's a no-brainer, but if you're storing something like roasted garlic or other "wet"/cooked foods, I'd still store it in the fridge after vacuum sealing just to be safe (especially if you have multiple jars of the same food and will only be using one at a time). The only feature missing, I think, is an auto-stop feature when a specific level of vacuum is pulled (either that or I've just never let it run long enough to achieve auto-stop...though I've let it run longer than 30 seconds, which *should* be enough and seems to be a really good vacuum level).

Not just for dry goods
I deducted a star for one reason only. That would be because the regular size lids can be a bugger to get to work. The wide mouth hasn’t failed (yet). I did find it helpful to listen to the sound of the device instead of relying on the 40 secs recommended. The pitch goes up during the process. I also find it easier to take it apart before trying to remove it from the smaller (regular) jars. And Kerr canning lids work better than the lids that come with it.As far as how fresh things are going to stay…jury is still out on that, but it can’t be worse than produce goingsoggy in bags. My hope is to get through an entire bunch of spring onions before they get too slimy to use. Will celery stay crisp? Can’t wait to find out. I have one jar going for soup stock. Those celery leaves and bits of onion ends I keep tossing out or the middle of the carrot left behind from making julienne strips for salads. It seems endless and my hopes are high.I’ll add a star if I can master the regular lid.Update. I haven’t mastered the regular lids yet, but I bumped up the star because of how well this is working for keeping vegetables edible for much longer than usual. I haven’t had to toss a single thing out before I can use it. Even a tossed salad was still fresh after 4 days! One tip I have for the regular lids is to press down on the machi e a bit while it’s running. As soon as you can hear it change pitch, you know you’re going to have a successful lid seal.

Creates a Great Seal on My Mason Jars
I purchased this vacuum jar sealer as an experiment for storing freeze-dried strawberries. I had freeze dried some in the past which had turned soft after a couple of months in some inexpensive, windowed thin mylar bags. After researching the experiences of other freeze drying folks I discovered that strawberry seeds can retain a minute amount of moisture and must have extra dry time (which I had done), longer term storage can't be in thin mylar windowed bags, that is IS permissible and even strongly suggested to use not only an oxygen absorber in the storage receptacle, but also food safe silica packets, AND, that many people were storing much of their freeze dried fruit in mason jars, with the silica, with the oxygen absorbers, AND vacuum packed with a device like this.My husband purchased two flats of strawberries about the time this came in the mail, which I freeze dried and vacuumed into jars with the suggested packets. That was in March. Yesterday (May 27th) I opened a jar and they were still fresh and crispy. The color was still great (I've been keeping them in a storage room with the light off). So far this is working out great!I love the fact that I can open the jar, get what I want out, and then reseal it immediately - so convenient and useful!I also have used it to seal other items in jars to keep fresh - dried beans, rice, candied ginger - the possibilities are endless. My husband is impressed. It came partially charged. Complete charging doesn't take very long. Vacuum sealing a case of jars did take its toll on the battery though. I *might* have left it vacuuming for longer than necessary on many or most of the jars on my first use, which *may* have caused the amount of battery drain that occurred. At any rate, it is a handy little gadget to have. I was about to ditch a BUNCH of jars until I got this and began to explore its potential. Recommended!

Honest review for others after 1 month
Look I can see this product has a lot of mixed reviews & most of them are just quick simple reviews & some complain. Here’s my honest reviews after 1 month of having this sealer & using it very often to seal 🍃 hemp herb. The vacuum itself is good as far as my item that I received. It seals good still & my hemp herb is still fresh like the day I put it in there. I’ve had hemp in jars with this product for 1 month without opening it & I opened it to find the hemp still perfect moisturized how it should be & not brittle how it would be if it was in a plastic bag after a month. My only absolute biggest complaint to this vacuum sealer is the fact the battery could be better. Charged it up to 100% 3 times now out of the month after 2 jar seals it goes from 100% to 81% which I mean ehhhh okay, but I wish it would have been designed better. First day I got it & used it, I noticed that it dies very quickly after sealing 6 wide mouth jars that are half a gallon. This is the best description of this product for the one that I received. Hope this helps others!

Just buy it!
I absolutely don't know what I've been doing without one of these. I received one for Christmas, loved it so much that I bought my sister-inlaw one for her birthday. So easy to use, love the dual purpose, and makes storying things so much easier. Keeps things crisper in the jars. I put my brown sugar in a half gallon jar, and seal it. I've never had it get hard in the past year. Definitely worth the buy my friend. (You can reuse the same lid for a long time)
