I use this at Bingo. Works great for hands free. Don’t buy the off brand tape refills that Amazon recommends. I did and they’re slightly too narrow and the tape roll annoyingly pops out. I just swapped it out for a Scotch Magic Tape refill 3/4” x 800”. See pic.

I loved this, I attached it to the table while wrapping Christmas presents and had no issues getting a piece of tape with one hand. One item of regret, I wish I had found this sooner.

So the table that I use for a desk has edges so that, I can only connect something with a clamp from the bottom, vertically. And I already had something else in mind for this tape dispenser because I didn't think that I'd be able to use it on my table. Well, as it turns out, I was wrong about that. You see, in the tape dispenser's default position, if it's clamped onto something horizontally the tape dispenser is also already horizontal. However, when it's clipped onto something vertically, like from underneath an edge that's facing down? It's actually possible to adjust the tape dispenser part upward enough so that it's horizontal. Pretty neat if you ask me.As far as using this tape dispenser one handed, I'd say that sometimes it can be and sometimes it's difficult to do so. It basically depends on what it's hooked on, what direction it's hooked onto it, and/or what direction the user winds up pulling the tape from. It is possible though.My favorite thing about this tape dispenser is that there isn't any play once a roll of tape has been put onto it. The last dispenser I had was so that, when I'd put a roll of tape on it it could slide to the left and right with about a quarter of an inch of play. Not cool. And almost impossible to be able to get a straight edge of tape from. Not only do you not have to worry about that with this tape dispenser, but you also don't have to worry about a separate little piece that the tape roll has to go on before being put in the tape dispenser. The tape roll itself becomes it's own spool. Oh, and just one more thing. For anyone who's interested to know, this tape dispenser DOES come with a little bit of tape. And it's just a small amount of the scotch, "magic tape," as I believe it's called. The one that always comes in the green packaging.

***Update after 3 years***In my original review, I was a little concerned about the durability of this product, but I'm careful with it and it is still going strong. It remains the smartest Christmas-related purchase I've ever made.Original review:I LOATHE wrapping presents. It takes forever and is such a hassle. Every Christmas I wait til the last minute to wrap because it takes me hours and is so annoying.Not anymore. This year I ordered this little thing and let me tell you... This may actually really be the best thing since sliced bread.The biggest time waster for wrapping, to me, is cutting the paper and taping. Usually I'd get those little plastic rolls so I'd line the paper up, pick up the tape, try to hold the paper with one hand while I got a piece of tape, inevitably accidently move the paper, then twist the tape, somehow manage to get it off and get it half on the paper with part of it sticking to itself. And even if I managed not to screw it up, I was still constantly picking up the tape and putting it back down.And that is why you really want this thing. It clips to the table and you can easily get a piece one-handed. It speeds up the process for me so much that I was able to do the wrapping in less than half the time it usually takes me.I wish it were made of sturdier stuff. My spouse changed the tape roll when it ran out and almost broke it. It was kind of difficult to change, but manageable. Yet even if I had to buy a new one of these every Christmas, I would. It is that much of a time and hassle reducer.Pair this with a Helix paper cutter and you will be done with your wrapping and back to watching those cheesey Christmas movies before you know it! And you won't be in such a bad mood either (unless it's because of the bad Christmas movies...)! Just get it now. You'll be glad you did.

I love this thing. Total game changer. Wish I had it years ago. I didn’t buy any refills, but what I did was an existing throw away tape that I had, I was able to take the ream of tape out of its plastic little throwaway holder and put that in the refillable dispenser. I’m not sure all throwaway tape dispensers are built the same, but so far I was able to push the tabs in on the throwaway and remove the ream of tape and use it. So handy! Good grip.

I bought this because of the versatility of the design. It rotates around and allows for different ways to mount it. I have it clipped onto my computer riser on my desk and can use it with one hand. So handy and it keeps it out of my way. Would be great for clipping on the counter or table for wrapping gifts too!
