Works well
What can I say works like you’d expect from this company, good antique brown color

Easy to apply.
I heated my parts in an oven so I could get a constant, even 275 degrees. Then I applied the plum brown using a cotton swab held with small pliers. I did this three times. After the third application, the surface looked very uneven and I wasn't happy, but once I rinsed it in cold water and it produced a perfectly even and brown finish. Great product.

Great product
I have used this product for many years (first time in 1974) for browning barrels and parts for muzzle-loaders. Given proper prep work, this will provide a beautiful, rich brown to the metal. The key, as with any metal finish, is a good polish job combined with de-greasing. Heat the object to be browned to the point where the application just "sizzles" when applied. Allow to cool, wipe with shop type paper towels, rub down with steel wool and repeat as often as needed for the depth of color you want.

Better formulation or concentration
I used this browning solution in the 90’s and this current batch was significantly better than the previous one. Very happy with my results.

Great for artificallly aging fasteners & other metal items for antique restoration.
This is a great product for what I bought it for, which is not for guns, but to age/antique small nails or fasteners or tin on various antique items. I restore antique objects (not furniture) & often I need to make a surface darker for which I use Birchwood Casey Super Blue, but that leaves a bluish tint on some metals (black on others). That tint does not look old, but with some of this added on top (or sometimes instead of the Bluing), it works great. Just today I put a missing nail in an 18th Century Nutcracker & though the nail I used was very old, it had to be shortened the tip was then bright, so I had to age it. Using the bluing & then this, gave it a dark, aged, almost starting to rust appearance that is much better than using fake rust (which does not look authentic on anything that is not rusty to begin with). NOTE- If you start with new nails/screws, you'd have to remove all the finish on them before you could blue them or brown them successfully. The one problem is the inner peel-away cover you have to remove to use it. It is almost impossible to remove completely & I was unable to even cut off the last bit. I found out that if you leave any of it, it becomes putrid. If not for that, I'd have given it 5 stars. Overall, I'm very pleased though.

Vendors price two thumbs up.
It does what it’s supposed to do which is to give you a brown finish on your firearms, or in my case I am using it to antique tin ceiling tiles. Biz vendors price was in the realm of reality, some of the vendors seem to think that this product turns metal to gold, by their pricing, I have seen some out rages out of this world pricing on this product. If I can find it at my local gun shop, this vendors pricing was a little below average of local retailers pricing

Good base for super blue
Apply plumb brown per directions as a base for Super Blue. Heat parts in oven to 170f…. After wife leaves house for a while…. Apply super blue. Card with 0000 steel wool. Much deeper bluing job than typical cold black finish with super blue.
